The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA has teamed up with DreamWorks to bring deep insight into the animation process with a “DreamWorlds” exhibit hosted within the center’s Williamson Gallery.
“It’s the art behind the magic…a chance to peek behind the veil and see what the environment of contemporary animation looks like,” said Stephen Nowlin, the gallery’s curator. “You get to see the process, and people are still fascinated by that…but I think they’ll still be able to suspend their disbelief” when they see the finished movie.
The show will begin on March 5 and run through to May 9. However, a panel of DreamWorks production artists will be kicking off the exhibit at 7 pm on March 4 with a discussion open to the public, followed by a reception at 8 pm. For more information please visit Art Center College of Design and be sure to follow Williamson Gallery on facebook.
The show will include original artwork and paintings, posters, backgrounds, 3-D sets, scale models, mock-up workstations and digital prints of 17 DreamWorks films, including the soon-to-be-released “How to Train Your Dragon…”
